Big Brothers/Big Sisters Award
The Oshkosh Jaycees are proud to attend the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Fox Valley Region’s The BIG Event: A Celebration of Mentoring tonight. We have been awarded the 2013 Bowl for Kids’ Sake team challenge award for Government/Service Clubs.

Honorary Membership Presented to Bombers
The Oshkosh Jaycees has presented the Oshkosh Bombers with a certificate of honorary membership. The Oshkosh Jaycees is a volunteer organization of young adults who believe giving back to the community and developing leadership skills can be enjoyable and rewarding. Through volunteer support and public event coordination, the Jaycees raise funds and provide activities for the greater Oshkosh community, while having a lot of fun. The Oshkosh Jaycees believe that the Oshkosh Bombers have a similar attitude. BNB Proceeds to Help Oshkosh’s Take 5 Club
A portion of the 2013 Brews n' Blues proceeds will go to support the Take 5 Club. Take 5 uses donations to shop for Oshkosh area children in need. They help by providing clothes, shoes, jackets, haircuts, and more for local kids. When Take 5 provides clothing to a child, that child can look in the mirror and feel pride and confidence in their appearance. Brews n’ Blues Undercover
June 22, 2013
4:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Leach Amphitheater
For the past 17 summers, the Oshkosh Jaycees have held an annual microbrew and music festival to raise money for local deserving charities. With more than 30 brewers on hand, attendees have the opportunity to sample over 100 brews while enjoying background music from several local bands.
To encourage increased ticket sales, BNB is going “undercover” with cover bands, instead of our usual blues bands.

Brewer Bus Trip – Save the Date
The annual Brewer Bus Trip will take place on Saturday May 25th.

PALS Hats & Mittens Collection
We are holding another hat and mitten collection for our PALS school, Washington Elementary. The school uses these donations for kids who come to school without proper winter wear or those who may lose items. We are barely into winter and they are out of supplies. We are asking everyone to consider donating new or gently used winter items such as hats, mittens and scarves. If you don’t have time to shop for the kids we will also accept monetary donations.
If you would like to contribute, please bring your donations to our February general membership meeting.

Shamrock Shuffle 5k Register Now!
Shamrock Shuffle 5k on March 9 at the UW-Oshkosh campus. This will be our 4th year participating! Online registration is now available.
If you (and/or a friend, family member) would like to register for our team, please just indicate on the registration form Heather Bartel as team captain and that our team name is the Jaywalkers. Also, please send Heather Bartel an e-mail after you’ve registered so she knows who is on the team.

Ice Golf 2013
It’s that time of year. Ready? Set. FORE!
In a tradition dating back many years, a bunch of crazy Jaycees will again grab a golf club and a tennis ball and head out to Menominee Park for a day on the lake!
A (hopefully) frozen Millers Bay will be the setting for another round of Ice Golf on Sunday, February 17. We’ll start the morning with a warm-up at St. Thomas Bar at 8:30 AM (693 N. Main St.). We’ll head to the park by 9:30 AM, play nine “holes”, and then go to The Varsity Club (570 N. Main St.) somewhere for lunch.
Bring a golf club and a tennis ball marked as yours, and prepare to have a great time! Beverages won’t be provided at the game, but you are welcome bring your own (warm or cold) to fill up the bar-ski. Invite your friends!
Meet at St. Tommy’s on Main Street. See you there!

6th Annual Indoor Olympics Announced
Teams are forming now to Rock ‘n’ Roll in Manitowoc on April 27th!
Registration is open for JCI Wisconsin’s Annual Indoor Olympics!
This year JCI Wisconsin is teaming up with JCI Manitowoc Jaycees to hold the 6th annual event in downtown Manitowoc on Saturday, April 27th.
Indoor Olympics starts with an Opening Ceremony, followed by a day full of competing in conventional and non-traditional bar games, and a Closing Ceremony with a meal and awards.
Past games have included: darts, pool, tippy cup, beer pong, left right center, Pictionary, bean bag toss and connect four, to name a few.
The theme this year is Rock ‘n’ Roll Olympics. Teams are encouraged to dress as their favorite singer, band, rock star, or song.
In order for Jaycee teams to be guaranteed a spot, register by February 2nd as after that date, registration is then open to the public.
**Must be 21 to compete, but you do not have to drink alcohol to compete.**

Not yet included on the promotional flyer, yet the host hotel is EconoLodge, located at 908 Washington St. in downtown Manitowoc. This convenient location makes it easy for participants to walk to all partner establishments in an effort to not drink and drive. We will be updating this information and releasing the details no later than convention weekend.

December 2012 Members of the Month
Congratulations to Maggie Doyle and Chad Miller! They were named the December Members of the Month for organizing the PALS Santa Visit at Washington Elementary. The kids cheered as Santa walked in and of course loved the cookies. Tons of kids gave Santa hugs and there was no pulling of his beard this year! They made sure the school was still open despite the blizzard and had enough cookies and volunteers. There was even some cookies leftover for the faculty to enjoy.

Easter Egg Hunt Committee Meeting
Our first Easter Egg Hunt committee meeting will be taking place after the membership meeting this Tuesday, January 15. This is a fun event that is sure to be another hit this year! The committee will be helping with booking entertainers (i.e balloon artists and face painters), reaching out to potential sponsors for goodie bag items, and seeking volunteers for the event. If you would like to join this committee, please stay after for the meeting or email the event chairs, Kelly Krueger and Jen Dunham at membershipvp@jcioshkosh.org.
